Fancy Piggies with Creamy Honey Mustard Sauce

Servings 8 piggies

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Chef’s knife
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 1 package crescent rolls
  • 2 tablespoons grainy Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 pre-cooked chicken sausages halved lengthwise and widthwise so you end up with 4 pieces
  • Cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll 4 of the crescent rolls onto the lined parchment paper, swipe with about 1/2 teaspoon grainy Dijon mustard, sprinkle with about 1 tablespoon cheddar cheese, and lay 1 piece of chicken sausage across the fat part of the crescent roll. Roll it up! I found it quite impossible to make these look uniform, but I promise they’ll all look equally delish once baked.
  • Repeat with the second half of the crescent rolls. Space the rolls at least 1 inch apart.
  • Spray the rolls lightly with cooking spray, then sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
  • Bake for 15 to 17 minutes, until golden brown and puffed up.
  • Meanwhile, stir together 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon grainy Dijon mustard, and 1 tablespoon honey in a small bowl to make the creamy honey mustard sauce.
  • Serve your Fancy Piggies with the Creamy Honey Mustard Sauce.

Notes

This recipe only makes EIGHT piggies so… quadruple it?!
Crescent Rolls: Puff pastry! Cut it up into 3-inch squares and wrap it around like a blanket. No need to attempt triangles.
Grainy Dijon: whatever mustard you have! I also feel like jam would be really good in there but, y’all know I love jam.
Cheddar cheese: Any shredded cheese! Gouda would be GOOOD.
Chicken sausage: any cooked sausage, or pre-cook raw sausage before doing this.
Everything bagel seasoning: sesame seeds and garlic flakes! Or, just use some flaky sea salt! Or, chop up any kind of seed or nut! Just make sure you add some salt.
Mayo: you can omit and just make a straight up honey mustard. Or, use sour cream or yogurt.
Honey: maple syrup or agave!
