Big shoutout to my boy MATTIS for inspiring this recipe. Last time we were in TJ’s, he LUNGED at the refrigerator aisle, grabbed a can of crescent rolls (who knew TJ’s sold crescent rolls!) and threw it across the store before I even knew what was happening. BOOM went the can, an instant explosion! Quite an arm on the little man!
I know the kind, kind folks at TJ’s would not have made me buy it, but I did it anyway, and then forgot about them completely until I was throwing together a picnic for George’s and my anniversary last night.

One of Mattis’ core food groups is chicken sausage, so I also had those in the fridge, and just like that, a lightbulb went off. Fancy Piggies.
Crescent roll + some fancy mustard + cheddar cheese (or whatever) + chicken sausage, rolled up, topped with everything bagel seasoning and baked until puffed up and delicious.
Admittedly, I’m a little embarrassed to share such a simpleton recipe. But I mean, am I embarrassed to make you look like an absolutely hero to the piggy-in-a-blanket-loving-people in your life? (Aka, every single person in your life?) No, I’m not embarrassed by that. Enjoy the limelight.
Fancy Piggies with Creamy Honey Mustard Sauce
Equipment
- Cutting board
- Chef’s knife
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 1 package crescent rolls
- 2 tablespoons grainy Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 pre-cooked chicken sausages halved lengthwise and widthwise so you end up with 4 pieces
- Cooking spray
- 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll 4 of the crescent rolls onto the lined parchment paper, swipe with about 1/2 teaspoon grainy Dijon mustard, sprinkle with about 1 tablespoon cheddar cheese, and lay 1 piece of chicken sausage across the fat part of the crescent roll. Roll it up! I found it quite impossible to make these look uniform, but I promise they’ll all look equally delish once baked.
- Repeat with the second half of the crescent rolls. Space the rolls at least 1 inch apart.
- Spray the rolls lightly with cooking spray, then sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake for 15 to 17 minutes, until golden brown and puffed up.
- Meanwhile, stir together 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon grainy Dijon mustard, and 1 tablespoon honey in a small bowl to make the creamy honey mustard sauce.
